The Mountlake Terrace High School Sports Booster Club have announced their selected student athletes for the February Athlete Highlights publication, seniors Loren Lacasse and Maddy Kristjanson.
MTHS boys basketball Coach Nalin Sood noted Lacasse’s efforts on the team, in the classroom and in the community. “Loren’s commitment to the MTHS boys’ basketball program goes beyond his successes on the court,” he said. “Loren’s dedication, hard work and commitment to his academic performance is exemplary. Loren represents all what is good about the term ‘student-athlete.’”
“Further, Loren’s involvement and commitment in the community is also outstanding with his volunteer work coaching the MTHS Hawks youth basketball team at the 7th grade level,” Sood added. “Coach Loren’s efforts are much appreciated.”
MTHS girls basketball coach Zach Wilde had similar praise for Kristjanson. “Maddy demonstrates everything a coach could ask for,” he stated. “She is one of the hardest-working players I have coached; she pushes everyone to do their best. Maddy comes in everyday ready to go, ready to learn and, whenever asked to do anything, she does her best to do so.”
Wilde noted the athleticism Kristjanson possesses, saying she is “the best high school athlete, male or female, I have seen. She’s a three-sport athlete who could play three different sports in college. She has already signed a scholarship for softball at Seattle University and leads our team (the Terrace girls basketball team) in rebounding and charges taken.”
“She is always the most competitive player on the floor at all times,” Wilde concluded. “We are real lucky to have her in our program and not have to face her.”
The February MTHS Athlete Highlights posters can been seen around Mountlake Terrace and Brier this month at select area businesses.
