Senior Aysha Raza and junior Alec Somers are the Mountlake Terrace High School student athletes selected for the April Athlete Highlights, a presentation of the school’s Sports Booster Club. Raza is currently a member of the Hawk girls tennis squad, while Somers plays for the Terrace boys soccer team.
“Aysha Raza has been one of my tennis players since her freshman year,” said MTHS Girls Tennis Coach Alberto Ramirez. “I was impressed by her dedication and commitment to learn tennis right from the beginning.”
“Aysha is not just a dedicated tennis player and a fierce competitor, she is a caring and dedicated participant in community charitable organizations as well as many school-related student communities,” Ramirez continued. “As a coach, I feel lucky to have students like her on the tennis team. Aysha is well deserving of being recognized as an athlete-of-the-month. She represents the best that tennis and the school has to offer.”
“Alec Somers is my choice for the boys’ soccer athlete to highlight,” said MTHS Boys Soccer Coach George Dremousis. “Alec is a junior and team captain; he plays central midfield and is an extremely talented, hard-working and respectful young man. I’ve been very impressed with his ball skills and knowledge of the game. He possesses the vision, anticipation and shot that make him a very complete player.”
Framed posters of the MTHS Athlete Highlights publication can be seen in businesses and organizations throughout Mountlake Terrace and surrounding communities. For more information about the MTHS Sports Booster Club click https://www.eteamz.com/mthssportsboosterclub/.
