After playing a year of community college baseball, 2014 Mountlake Terrace High School graduate Dominic DeMiero will be moving up to Division 1 college ball.
“I am excited to announce that I have committed to play baseball at the University of Hawaii next year,” Demiero tweeted on Tuesday.
DeMiero played four years of varsity baseball for the MTHS Hawks, earning All-Wesco honors during his sophomore, junior and senior years. The 6-3 lefthander then red-shirted his first year of college eligibility while attending Bellevue College, then pitched for the Bulldogs this past spring. DeMiero started 13 games for Bellevue, going 7-2 with a 2.74 ERA and earned a selection to the 2016 First Team All-NWAC team.
DeMiero is spending this summer at home in Brier as he prepares for the upcoming school year at Hawaii, getting in some light workouts with fellow pitchers from Bellevue College and the Everett Merchants, a semi-pro summer team DeMiero pitched for in 2015. The current Merchants squad includes 2016 University of Hawaii graduate and former Bellevue Bulldog Cody Culp.
The University of Hawaii Rainbow Warriors baseball team plays in the nine-team Big West Conference with eight California schools. The 2016 squad posted a conference record of 12-12, 23-30 overall.
