Are you ready for spring? Bright yellows and vibrant greens, the fragrance of fresh soil and tea roses? If so, you will be pleased to know that our area is well represented in this year’s Northwest Flower & Garden Show being held at the Washington State Convention Center.
With “America the Beautiful” as the theme the exhibition celebrates the National Parks Service Centennial and famous American landmarks.
The advent of this coming-of-spring garden extravaganza features horticulture displays, one-on-one advice, book signings, and seminars that cover such topics as “Plants for Northwest Gardens,” “Maximizing Space,” “In Harmony With Nature” and “Get Crafty.”
Several businesses representing the communities of Edmonds, Lynnwood and Mountlake Terrace will join the 350 vendors for this year’s explosion of colorful displays.

In its 25th year, Seattle resident Duane Kelly inspired the Northwest Flower & Garden Show after visiting the 1987 Philadelphia Flower Show. At the time, Duane and his wife Alice were owners of Salmon Bay Events and sought an event for the Northwest that would bring residents out of the long gloom of Northwest winters. It took two years of planning before Duane and Alice opened the doors to the 1989 Northwest Flower & Garden Show.
