Starting at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, the surface parking lot at the Mountlake Terrace Transit Center is scheduled to close for about 18 months for construction of the light rail project. Parking will be replaced by an Interim Park and Ride lot, located on the corner of 56th Avenue West and 232nd Street Southwest (the former site of Roger’s Market Place).
In addition to the existing high-frequency transit connections between the interim lot and Mountlake Terrace Transit Center, a shuttle service provided by Sound Transit will ensure the wait is never more than 10 minutes during peak hours, the City of Mountlake Terrace said. In most instances the wait may be much shorter, the city added.
The parking garage at Mountlake Terrace Transit Center will remain open 24/7, except for limited occasions when sufficient advance notice will be provided.
Riders of Community Transit routes 810 and 871 to the University District should look for parking at the Interim Park and Ride first. Riders of all routes to Downtown Seattle should look for parking at the Mountlake Terrace Transit Center garage to avoid having to transfer.
