Mountlake Terrace prep sports fans have a wide array of action to choose from on Thursday, Oct. 16, as the volleyball, boys tennis, girls soccer, girls swim and boys and girls cross country teams will all be competing in the area.
The Hawk boys tennis team had been scheduled to take on Edmonds-Woodway on Wednesday, but the match-up was postponed due to wet courts. The rescheduled matchup will begin at 3:30 p.m. at Mountlake Terrace High School, with the continuation of their Sept. 29 match slated first (which had been interrupted by rain), followed by the regular season finale for both teams.
The Terrace volleyball team will try to keep their slim hopes of qualifying for postseason play alive as it hosts Shorecrest beginning at 7 p.m. The Hawks are riding a six-match Wesco League losing streak and will likely need to win their final five matches of the season to earn a spot in the 3A District tournament in early November. Thursday’s clash with the Scots will be shown live on the Sound Live Sports Network (SLSN) at soundlivesportsnetwork.com.
The Hawk girls soccer team has four matches remaining in their 2014 regular season beginning with at 7 p.m. tilt at Glacier Peak on Thursday. The Grizzlies enter the matchup with a three-game unbeaten streak, during which they have kept their opponents scoreless. But Terrace is hoping to break that run as the team is coming off a 3-1 victory over Oak Harbor on Tuesday and is averaging more than 2.4 goals per match this year.
The Terrace cross country teams will be at Lynndale Park in Lynnwood on Thursday for one of the most anticipated meets of the regular season, the Edmonds District Meet that brings together the four local high schools – Mountlake Terrace, Edmonds-Woodway, Meadowdale and Lynnwood for competition. Racing begins at 3:15 p.m.
Coming off their best outing of the season on Tuesday, the Hawk girls swim team will try to make a splash on Thursday in its match-up against Lynnwood at Lynnwood Pool. The first swimmers will be in the pool at 2:45 p.m.
And if that’s not enough for the most avid Hawk fan, the Terrace football team will hit the gridiron on Friday, Oct. 17, against Lynnwood at Edmonds District Stadium. Kickoff for the school’s homecoming game is set for 5 p.m.; the clash will be streamed lived on SLSN.
