New Mountlake Terrace Reserve Police Officer Norman McLain was administered the oath of office by Police Chief Greg Wilson during the Jan. 20 City Council Meeting.
Commander Kevin Pickard noted that reserve officers undergo the same rigorous hiring process as the City’s full time officers. They also attend a six-month academy and are held to the same high standards as full time officers. Yet many of the reserve officers have other full time jobs and families.
“We consider our Reserve Police Officers valuable resources that we depend upon,” Wilson said.
“I would like to thank the Chief, Mayor and City Council for giving me this opportunity,” McLain said.
McLain was born in Seattle and raised in Edmonds. He attended the Reserve Officer Academy in Mount Vernon. He currently lives in Edmonds with his wife Emily.
