Mountlake Terrace Police Blotter: Assault, Stolen Vehicle and Code Enforcement

Here are an assortment of Mountlake Terrace police reports from the last week or so.

On Tuesday, 9-27-2011 at 10:25 PM, officers responded to a disturbance in the 5400 block of 236th Street SW. The complainant was reporting a black male wearing a dark shirt and driving a white compact car was out of his car and hitting another car. The suspect was stopped at Cedar Way and 236th by an officer and detained. Officers then contacted the victim and the witness at 48th and 236th. According to the victims and the witness, as all the vehicles exited the freeway at 236th, the suspect suddenly went around the victim’s car and abruptly stopped in the middle of 236th eastbound. The suspect then got out of his car and he began hitting the victim’s car yelling racial remarks. At one point the suspect reached into the victim’s car and grabbed the driver, as if he was going to pull him from the car, yelling, “This is how you’re going to get killed.” The suspect claimed that the “kids” in the other car had assaulted him. He was told by the arresting officers that the independent witness had confirmed the victim’s account. The suspect was booked at the Snohomish County Jail for assault and driving with a suspended license.

On Monday, 9-26-2011 at 4:23 AM, an officer checking a business in the area of 66th and 220th Street SW located a car that was stolen in Arlington. The car was occupied by an 18 year-old female Mountlake Terrace resident and a 25 year-old male with a Lake Stevens address. When told he was under arrest the male subject began complaining about chest pains and the officer had to call an aid car. The male was treated, then transported and booked at the Snohomish County Jail on warrants totaling $12,000. The case has been assigned to the Detective unit to follow-up on a possible search warrant on a backpack that was in the car. The backpack is believed to contain narcotics. The prosecutor will be also reviewing possible charges for the possession of stolen property on both the male and female suspects.

On 5-26-2011, Code Enforcement observed a Dodge Caravan parked on residential property located near the 21600 block of 53rd Ave W having an expired license, and parked on an unimproved grass surface. Code Enforcement photographed the vehicle and issued a Notice of Violation for the following municipal violations; 8.15.050.B.1 – All motor vehicles that are junk, inoperable or unused for 30 days or more shall be stored inside a fully enclosed structure, and 8.15.050.B.3 – All motor vehicles shall be parked on an improved surface anywhere on a property, or on a maintained surface per MTMC 19.125.070. On 6/22/2011 and 6/30/2011, the above property was inspected finding the Dodge Caravan was still unlicensed, but it had been moved onto the driveway. As a result, a Notice and Order was issued in accordance with 8.15.050.B.1 – All motor vehicles that are junk, inoperable or unused for 30 days or more shall be stored inside a fully enclosed structure. Code Enforcement received a phone call two weeks later from the property owner stating that they were working with the tenant to remove the vehicle from the property. On 9-9-2011, Code Enforcement inspected the property, and found that the vehicle had been removed from the property.
