Below are an assortment of police reports and activity from the Mountlake Terrace Police Department from the past week or so.
On Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 4:32 PM, officers were dispatched to the 4600 block of 222nd St SW to assist the fire department with a male who was having medical issues. Patrol officers and the fire department arrived and located a severely ill male inside. They found the condition of the interior of the house completely deteriorated and uninhabitable. The male was transported to the hospital where it was discovered that he had a highly contagious case of bacterial meningitis. All the police and fire personnel who were at the scene had to report to Swedish Hospital for an exposure evaluation and treatment. Code enforcement has issued a notice of violation and is following up with the Community & Economic Development Department to discuss the home’s condition and structural integrity.
On Saturday, June 4, 2011, an officer took a counter report from two Creekside apartment roommates who claim that on Tuesday, May 31, 201, they and four visiting friends were victims of a home invasion robbery. According to the victims, they were in two different bedrooms of the apartment when the suspects came through an unlocked front door. The suspect with the gun told everyone to get on the ground and then had one of the residents collect electronic items and put them in a backpack. The victims delayed reporting the case because the suspect with the gun threatened to come back if they reported the incident. The victims did feel that they may have some leads to the identity of the suspects. The suspects were described as younger males; the one brandishing a handgun was wearing a red beanie hat with large holes cut in it. The other male appeared younger and had a dark pulled over his face and he did not display a weapon. Detectives are investigating.
On Monday, June 6, 2011, Code Enforcement officers observed a property located in the 22800 block of 58th Ave W having multiple code violations. Unmaintained vegetation, miscellaneous debris, trash, and a junk vehicle were observed in the front and side yards of the property. The property was recognized as a property that has been reported as having code violations in the past. A Notice of Violation was prepared and sent to the property owners. Code Enforcement will follow up on June 22, 2011 to check for compliance.
