Mountlake Terrace Pet Licenses Due

The City of Mountlake Terrace is reminding pet owners that annual licenses expired on June 30, 2010. All pet owners need to come to the Police Department to get current tags, because renewal notices were not mailed out this year.

The City of Mountlake Terrace Animal Control wants to get the word out prior to August 1, 2010 when a licensing emphasis for all cats and dogs currently in residence will begin.

All cats or dogs, three months old or older, must have and be wearing a current city tag to comply with city codes. Pets that are new to the city have up to 30 days for their owners to purchase their tags, which can be done at the Police Department located at 5906 232nd Street SW. The tags are current for one year, and must be renewed every year thereafter. The city is in the process of changing the licensing year to match the calendar year, so tags purchased now are current until December 2011.

Discounts apply for any spayed or neutered pets, as well as for all senior citizens 65 years or older with altered animals. The costs for pet licenses are $27.50 for unaltered pets, $15 for altered pets and a senior citizen rate of $7.50 for altered pets only. Current impound rates will be going up on August 1, 2010 to $20 for the impound fee and $15 for the boarding fee.

For more information on pet licensing, please call the Police Department at (425) 670-8260.

  1. I just called over to get a license for our new dog, and there is no way to do it without physically going to the police station. I hope I don’t get busted before Friday, there is no way for me to get over there before then.nnDoes anybody have recommendations for a local groomer?

    1. rnIf you’re willing to travel to northgate James at Doggie Style Seattle is AMAZING!!! I haven’t heard of someone in MLT though.

  4. Most cats in my neighborhood wander around safely without tags or collars or anything like that. Is there a point to this, other than raising money?
