The Enterprise reports that the City has approved a 6-year parks plan which updates the 2003-2008 plan. The parks plan took in to account community feedback and other city-approved plans. One of the major finding were that the city needs better signage and way-finding. Many residents mentioned that they were not even aware of many of the city parks. Even thought he city has about 25 acres of city parks, the study showed that if growth continues in Mountlake Terrace, especially with the increased density in the town center neighborhood, city park space should increase by approximately 40% by in the next 20 years. The approval of the study basically means the city will use the general guidelines recommended. The study did not get in to how an increase in city parks will be funded.
