Come enjoy National Night Out in Mountlake Terrace on Tuesday, Aug. 7, from 6-9 p.m. at Evergreen Playfield, 22205 56th Ave. W. This free family event combines entertainment, food and community involvement for a fun-filled evening. You can meet your neighbors and learn more about your community.
Mountlake Terrace is celebrating its 16th annual National Night Out event. Kicking off the night at 6 p.m. will be a demonstration by Seattle TaeKwonDo, followed by Hula O’Lehualani doing traditional hula dances at 6:30 p.m. After short presentation by city officials, a police K9 demonstration will take place at 7:30 p.m.
“This fun, family-oriented event raises crime and drug prevention awareness, strengthens neighborhood spirit and provides an opportunity for neighbors and friends to gather and meet other neighbors, community leaders and local service providers,” said event coordinator Erin Kelly, property room technician for the MLT Police Department.
Mountlake Terrace National Night Out is made possible through local sponsors and donations. This year’s sponsors include Premera Blue Cross, Audio Control, Sound Community Bank, HomeStreet Bank, Kuker Rankin, Kirk Geiger-State Farm, Red Onion Burgers BBQ and Roger’s Market. The event has been recognized by the National Association of Town Watch as a National Award Winner for its outstanding participation for several years. There were over 1,000 people who attended last year’s event.
The campaign involves citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials.
