The City of Mountlake Terrace is being honored with a 2015 Playful City USA designation.

This national program honors cities and towns across the country for making their cities more playable.

“Playability is crucial to the success of our future communities, and we are proud of the work these cities and leaders are doing to provide a better quality of life for all residents, and especially families,” says KaBOOM! President, James Siegal. “Play provides a competitive advantage for cities looking to attract and retain residents. With these esteemed leaders, and our friends and partners across the country, we continue to prioritize play for all kids.”

“It’s a great honor for the City of Mountlake Terrace to receive this designation,” said Recreation and Parks Director Jeff Betz. “To be honored is a tribute to all of the hard work the City Council, staff and citizens have done to make our city a playful, wonderful place to live.”

Founded in 1996, KaBOOM! is a national non-profit organization dedicated to the goal of ensuring that all children get the active play they need to become healthy and successful adults. The Humana Foundation was established in 1981 as the philanthropic arm of Humana Inc., a leading health care company.
