Six Mountlake Terrace High School students and nine Brier Terrace Middle School students are on their way to the 2014 National Technology Student Association (TSA) Conference in Washington D.C. for five days of workshops, networking, special interest sessions and individual and team competitions.

The conference takes place June 27-July 1 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland, just outside the national’s capital. The students from MTHS are being led by advisor Mark Burbank; the BTMS delegation is led by advisor Todd Johnston.

While the conference includes many activities, it’s the competitions that many of the students look forward to participating in. “Students will be participating in STEM-related competitions ranging from Career Preparation, Structural Engineering, Problem Solving and much more,” Johnston said.

About 6,500 students are expected to attend the national conference; with 216,000 members nationwide, TSA is the largest STEM career and technical student organization in the country.
