Mountlake Terrace HS awarded First Amendment Press Freedom Award

HawkeyeWebLogoHawkTAO4Mountlake Terrace High School has been awarded the First Amendment Press Freedom Award from the Journalism Education Association, the nation’s largest scholastic journalism organization.

“This is an incredible honor which highlights the value we place on the importance of a free student press,” said MTHS Principal Greg Schwab in an e-mail to district staff. Members of The Hawkeye, the student newspaper at the school, are scheduled to receive the award at the National Journalism Education Association Convention in San Diego this April.

The award is another in a long string of honors that Mountlake Terrace High School has received for its student journalism program. You can view a listing of The Hawkeye and individual student awards for journalism over the past 20 years here.
