Mountlake Terrace High School’s Hawkeye newspaper won 14 awards at the Journalism Education Association/National Scholastic Press Association spring convention in Denver.
The Hawkeye staff accepted one of just seven First Amendment Press Freedom Awards granted in the country.
Hawkeye Editor-in-Chief Nick Fiorillo — who last month was named the state’s journalist of the year — was named one of the national runners-up for the JEA National Student Journalist of the Year Award. He was honored in front of the entire convention and received a plaque and a scholarship.
