It’s a big week for high school improv as teams, including a troupe from Mountlake Terrace High School, will be competing for berths in the Hogan Cup on Nov. 21.
Terrace’s entry in Hogan Cup competition, the Top Koalaty Improv team, will host two shows this week at Mountlake Terrace High School. On Tuesday, Nov. 15, the improv team from Holy Names Academy will be at MTHS to take on the Terrace troupe; show time is 7 p.m. in the Mountlake Terrace High School Theater. Admission is whatever-you-can-pay or a donation to the Friends of Neighbors Food Bank.
Then on Thursday, Nov. 17, Top Koalaty will welcome the team from Kamiak High School for a 6:30 p.m. show/competition; admission is $5.
On Friday, Nov. 18, the MTHS improv team will travel to Inglemoor High School to face the Vikings’ troupe of improv performers. Show time is 7 p.m.
Terrace’s Top Koalaty troupe, made up of Emma Agircola, Abbie Apana, Aurora Baker, James Gisle, David Hill, Mallory Kellum, Flynn Thomas, Paul Pratt, Colin Walker, Michael Wollan and Chris Bottman, are one of ten teams competing for a spot in the Hogan Cup finals scheduled for Nov. 21 at the Market Theater in Seattle. Other schools with Hogan Cup hopefuls are Holy Names, Kamiak, Inglemoor, Bothell, Everett and Woodinville.
The Hogan Cup is the oldest high school improvisational competition in the Northwest and is sponsored by Unexpected Productions in Seattle.
