Staff and volunteers at Mountlake Terrace Elementary School have begun transforming a playground field at the school into a collection of bicycle and walking trails; more work on the project is scheduled for the next two Saturdays, April 19 and 26.
The school has included bicycle riding as part of its physical education program for five years and also offers students the chance to ride bikes during some recesses. It is now creating three bicycle paths to accommodate different riding skill levels of the students involved in its Wheels Club, P.E. programs, and during and after-school activities.
The trails, once completed, will also be available for general community use during non-school hours.
On Saturday, April 19, a work party will be held at the school from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to continue the creation of the trails. Volunteers who want to assist are with the project are encouraged to bring wheelbarrows, shovels and other tools that might be helpful in building the pathways.

This is great. Super jealous that my kids don’t go there.
