Mountlake Terrace Easter Egg Hunt 2010

The Mountlake Terrace Easter Egg Hunt will take place on Saturday, April 3rd, at 10 am at the Evergreen Playfield, 22205 56th Ave W. Kids up to age 11 are encouraged to participate.

Here is all the info about the Easter Egg Hunt from Seuan Richards of the Red Onion:

In a grass roots effort the MLT Easter Egg Hunt will be held Saturday April 3rd @ 10:00 am at the Evergreen Playfield in MLT. The event will feature over 5,000 plastic eggs filled with candies, prizes and surprises. The golden egg will feature a $100 Toys R Us gift card presented by Jerry Smith, mayor of MLT. The event will also feature an age appropriate coloring contest. 4 age brackets will be judged on their coloring skills and 4 winners will walk away with a $25 gift card from Toys R Us provided by the MLT Business Association.

The event will also feature the Easter Bunny and the starting bell begins with a fire engine provided by Fire District 1. In the event of no 911 emergency, fire fighters will be on hand to help kids find the eggs.

The grass roots effort began when Seaun Richards’ owner of the Red Onion Restaurant, was told the City of MLT has not had an annual Easter Egg Hunt in 3 years. Richard’s was assured the City of MLT would provide money and support for an Easter egg hunt. The City Council rejected all involvement due to budget restraints and since the Red Onion Restaurant is not a not for profit organization, it was not eligabale for city support.

Richards’ immediately went on Facebook, made phone calls and walked the side walk to get as many businesses, volunteers and community support as possible. Richards’ goal was to provide 5,000 Easter Eggs hidden in the Evergreen Playfield with community support.

With the help of DD Meats, Big E Ales, MLT Senior Center, Creekside Church, Seattle Tae Kwon Do, Roger’s Market Place, Home Street Bank, Cedar Plaza True Value Hardware, Sorelli Pizza, Cascade Elite Gymnastics, Crazy Moose Casino, Align Chiropractic Center and State Farm Insurance, Richards’ expectation’s have been surpassed.

The event will now feature over 7,000 eggs, extra surprises, business support and most of all the community. “I applaud the MLT community for stepping up to the plate. I’s all about reaching out and getting involved. Thank you MLT.”

Please join us Saturday April 3rd @ 10:00 am, for a fun time and meet the Easter Bunny.
