The Mountlake Terrace City Council honored Eagle Scout candidate Aaron Cox with a Certificate of Appreciation on Monday night for a work project he led at Matt Hirvela/Bicentennial Park.
Cox led the effort add beautification enhancements to the five-acre park, located at 4105-222nd St. S.W. in Mountlake Terrace. One of the additions was a new wooden monument stand to hold a plaque honoring Matt Hirvela, who helped to turn the site into city parkland in 1968.
Cox is another in a long line of local Eagle Scout candidates who have recently volunteered for the city to help fulfill requirements to obtain Eagle Scout status with the Boy Scouts of America.
