Mountlake Terrace City Council to discuss traffic issues related to new Brighton School at Jan. 29 work session

City-of-MLT-logoTraffic issues related to the new Brighton School will be one of the issues on the agenda for the Mountlake Terrace City Council work/study session on Jan. 29.

At Tuesday’s City Council meeting, two residents expressed concerns about the increased amount of traffic the school, which will be located at 21705 58th Ave. W., will bring to the neighborhood.

Neither resident thought that the four-way stop that the school will be installing at the intersection of 58th Ave. W and 220th St. SW. was going to be effective in dealing with the traffic issues. Either a roundabout or a traffic light would be a better solution, the residents said.

The Hearing Examiner ruled in favor of the development earlier this month. Construction permit applications for the school have been submitted. The initial work will be to remodel the interior of the building for classrooms. The school is projected to open in the fall of 2015.
