Most northbound I-5 concrete grinding work complete between Northgate, Shoreline

wsdot-logoThe Washington State Department of Transportation reported Thursday that most northbound concrete grinding is complete on I-5 between Northgate and Shoreline.

Contractor crews completed most of the grinding involving the northbound lanes this week as part of WSDOT’s project to repair and rehabilitate the 50-year-old section of I-5.

WSDOT notes that there are still a few nights worth of grinding on the northbound shoulder and median, tentatively scheduled to occur in late April. Mostly, however, the grinding will now be in the southbound lanes between Northeast 145th and Northeast 117th streets at least through May.

Keep an eye on WSDOT’s construction update report to see where and when the work is occurring. They also also have answers to your questions about why grinding is necessary, the overall schedule and why it must be done at night.
