46 years ago this month, two men named Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin stepped on
Tranquilty Base. They left a plaque: “Here men from the planet Earth first set foot upon the Moon, July 1969 A.D.” Aldrin described the
moon in two words: “Magnificent desolation.” Tonight’s moon phase is Waxing Gibbous (95 percent of full), with a full moon happening on July 31. (Photo by David Carlos)
