Have you ever gone on vacation and wished someone would just stop by your house every day to check on it? The Mountlake Terrace Police Department has a program called Crime Watch Vacation House Check Program. Crime Watch is staffed by volunteers, mostly senior citizens, that give their time to make Mountlake Terrace a safer and better place to live.
If you sign up, Crime Watch volunteers will periodically check your house while you are out of town for any suspicious activity. In the event of a suspicious circumstance, the volunteers will contact the Mountlake Terrace Police Department to investigate. The Vacation House Check Program is free to Mountlake Terrace residents.
I got a chance to talk to a couple of the volunteers at National Night Out last week and it sounds like they could definitely use more houses to watch and really enjoy making Mountlake Terrace a safer place for all of us.
The Vacation House Check program is a great service from volunteers so be sure to take advantage of it next time you go out of town.
