Members of the Mountlake Terrace Business Association gathered on the shores of Lake Ballinger late Wednesday afternoon to enjoy a business picnic and welcome the group’s new president, Ayesha Sheikh, general manager of Studio 6 Extended Stay.
Outgoing MLTBA President Don Andrews noted that he had served as head of the association for six years, and was looking forward to the new ideas and energy that Sheikh would bring to the group.
Treasurer Danil Semenov announced that the group’s upcoming “Backpacks for Little Hawks” fundraiser has received strong support from local residents, who have mailed in checks to fund the effort. The annual fundraiser provides backpacks and school supplies to students in need who attend Mountlake Terrace and Cedar Way elementary schools.
Last year MLTBA provided backpacks and school supplies to 130 students; this year the goal is 150. The cost of each backpack filled with school supplies is $15.10, and anyone is welcome to contribute.
All checks should be made payable to Mountlake Terrace Business Association and mailed to Mountlake Terrace Business Association, 22001 66th Ave. W., Ste. B, Mountlake Terrace, WA 98043
