A couple of schedule changes didn’t slow down Mountlake Terrace wrestling this week, as the team picked up its first victories of the season, and went 2-1 in three meets over two days.

On Tuesday, the Hawks defeated Evergreen 54-17 and Tyee 52-12; the Tyee match-up was a last minute addition to a meet already scheduled on the southwest Seattle campus of Evergreen High School. Then on Wednesday the Hawks put up a strong showing against 4A Arlington,eventually losing to the Eagles 41-33.

The Wednesday competition was slated to be a double dual meet, with O’Dea and Jackson in the mix, but those two schools pulled out.

Taron Castleton and Kaleb Davis led the Hawks over the two days of competition, each winning three matches, all by pinfall.

After two wins on Tuesday, Hawk Trung Banh had his undefeated win streak ended at 10 on Wednesday when he couldn’t continue his match against Arlington’s J. Nygard due to a lower back strain.

One more schedule change for Terrace wrestlers is the cancellation of a trip to a high school tournament in Reno over winter break. “We have made the decision to postpone the Reno trip until next season,” said coach Kanoe Vierra.

The Hawks’ next action is Saturday at the Lynnwood Classic starting at 9 a.m. at Lynnwood High School.
