Another milestone was reached for the Mountlake Terrace seniors’ group the first week of February 2014, as the organization began regular service of their twice-weekly lunch offering at their new home at Ballinger Park.
About 35 lunches were served on Wednesday and again on Friday at the Mountlake Terrace Community Senior Center @ Ballinger Park, 23000 Lakeview Drive in Mountlake Terrace. The group began the process of moving into their new location in January and completed a remodel of the building’s kitchen area in time to begin meal service this past week.
The senior group had been meeting in a converted cedar block building next to Bethesda Lutheran Church in the Town Center District of Mountlake Terrace for years. It was selected by the Mountlake Terrace City Council last year to manage the former Ballinger Clubhouse and will now operate its entire program out of the city-owned facility.
The twice-a-week lunches at the senior center cost $6 for those 59 and younger; cost is just $3 for seniors 60 and older. Reservations are required at 425-672-2407. Other programs and activities currently being held at the center include guitar and ukulele lessons, line and ballroom dancing, foot care, genealogy classes, knitting sessions and card games. The seniors group has also scheduled at “Moving-In Rummage Sale” at the facility Feb. 28 — March 1.
