MLT receives clean opinion from Washington State Auditor’s Office

city_of_mountlake_terrace[1]The City of Mountlake Terrace followed up a recent Certificate of Achievement for Excellence for financial reporting in 2011 with another accomplishment, a clean opinion on its 2012 Financial Statements from the Washington State Auditor’s Office.

The State Auditor’s Office conducts accountability, financial, single and performance audits on municipal governments and other state jurisdictions on an annual basis.

With the clean opinion from the state auditor, the city will send its 2012 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) to the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for consideration of another Certificate of Achievement for Excellence, a financial reporting award the city has now received six years-in-a-row (2006 — 2011).

The State Auditor’s Office also issued a clean opinion on the city’s “single audit,” which covered projects financed by federal grants. A single audit is required for all government entities that receive over $500,000 in federal grant awards in one year, as the City of Mountlake Terrace did in 2012.
