MLT police search for suspect who robbed man on Interurban Trail Tuesday

Mountlake Terrace police are searching for a suspect in the robbery of a 35-year-old man who was assaulted while walking on the Interurban Trail near 220th Street Southwest Tuesday afternoon.

The man told police he was walking about 500 feet north of where the trail passes under 220th Street when he was approached from behind and struck in the back with a hard pointed object. When the man tried to turn around, the suspect told him to put his hands on his head and not to move.

The victim told police he does not remember anything until he woke up on the east side of the trail with a bump on his head, his money missing and his belongings strewn along the trail. He managed to make his way to the hospital and call 911 just before 2:30 p.m.

A physical description of the suspect was not available as the victim never saw his assailant. The victim described the suspect’s voice as that of an older male who spoke with a “raspy, smoker’s voice.” He also told the officer that the suspect smelled heavily of alcohol and had not showered in some time.

Officers checked the area but did not locate a possible suspect. Witnesses or those with information are asked to contact the Mountlake Terrace Police Department at 425-670-8260 and ask to speak with a detective.
