City of Mountlake Terrace Police Department Motor Officer Eric Jones recently became NAMOA’s “Show and Shine” competition’s first ever, repeat champion at its 2011 conference in Portland, Oregon. NAMOA, the North American Motor Officers Association holds its “Show and Shine” competition at its annual conference, placing motorcycle officers from Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Canada in motorcycle maneuvering (the “Show”) and care and maintenance competition (the “Shine”).
Motor Officer Jones, an eight-year Police Department veteran with three years as a Motor Officer, successfully maneuvered his 2009 Police Model Harley Davidson Road King through obstacle courses and a “white glove” care and maintenance exam to win his second consecutive title. The exam grades overall vehicle cleanliness, emergency equipment set-up and graphic appeal. Officer Jones previously won the 2010 competition at the NAMOA Conference held in Marysville, Washington.
The annual NAMOA Conference, established for regional police motor officers to improve their skills through training and competition, was attended this year by 150 motorcycle officers representing 58 agencies from three Western states and Canada. The annual conference is in its 26th year.
Congrats to officer Jones, 2 years in a row
