The football-viewing parties at some homes on the east side of Mountlake Terrace were interrupted Sunday by the sounds of sirens as Mountlake Terrace police were in pursuit of a stolen vehicle on 44th Avenue West.
After learning that a vehicle had been reported as stolen by the Renton Police Department, MLT officers attempted to stop the vehicle as it traveled southbound on 44th Avenue West. When the driver of the vehicle ran a red light at the 228th Street Southwest intersection, MLT police called off the chase.
During the time that police were conducting a search for the vehicle, “a citizen reported a suspicious male in the bushes near the 4700 block of 238th Place SW,” said MLT Police Commander Doug Hansen. A K9 unit attempted to find the male suspect, but was unsuccessful; the vehicle was located in the 4600 block of 240th Street SW and was reclaimed by its owner.
