The Washington State Department of Transportation has included resurfacing of I -5 through Mountlake Terrace, the 220th and 236th Street overpasses and connected on- and off-ramps in its list of construction projects scheduled for the summer of 2013.

Mountlake Terrace City Manager John Caulfield called the announcement “very good news,” noting that city officials have been seeking the state to make upgrades to the I-5 transportation network through the city for some time.

“For us, those overpasses are in dire need of some improvements,” Caulfield said.

The planned work includes the repaving of I-5 from the King-Snohomish County line north to about 52nd Avenue Southwest. No specific timetable for the project has been released; it is unknown at this time if lane closures will be necessary. The entire project will cost between $4-5 million.
