Freshman Hawk Chinne Okoronkwo had already carved her name into the Mountlake Terrace High School track record books in her very first meet last week. This week, she did it again.

Okoronkwo was one of many Hawks that had a good night in a dual meet versus Mariner at Edmonds Stadium on Thursday. The Mountlake Terrace girls beat the Mariner girls squad 93-48, while the Terrace boys ran past the Marauders boys 93-51.

Okoronkwo set a new school record in the long jump on Thursday with a leap of 17-4.5, beating out the previous record of 17-1 set by Jenna Donohue in 2008. The week before the Hawk freshman had set new school records in the triple jump and the pole vault.

Okoronkwo also won the 100 meters on Thursday with a time of 13.29, more than a second faster than the second-place finisher, and easily out-leaped her competition in the triple jump, winning by almost seven feet with a mark of 35-8.

Other lady Hawks who captured their events were Courtney Hammer (200 meters), Barbara Biney (400 meters), Marie Auch-Schwelk (800 meters), Ella Schroth (1600 meters and 3200 meters), McKenna Hunt (100 meter hurdles and 300 meter hurdles), Hailee Malins (javelin), Christina Wimmer (high jump), and the 4X400 meter relay team.

On the boys side, the Hawk winners were Mason Stone (100 meters and 200 meters), Jack Pierce (1600 meters and 3200 meters), Duane Dahl (110 meter hurdles), Beau Kennedy (javelin), Tye Esparza (high jump), Gifton Okoronkwo (long jump and triple jump), and the 4X100 meters relay team of Joshua Kim, Mason Stone, Quinnell Mason and Duane Dahl.

The Hawks host the Terrace Relays on Saturday, March 23, beginning at 10 a.m. at Edmonds Stadium.
