MLT food bank receives $5,000 grant from Hazel Miller Foundation

Concern For Neighbors Food Bank in Mountlake Terrace announced Thursday that it has received a $5,000 grant from the Edmonds-based Hazel Miller Foundation.

The grant will help the food bank expand its fresh produce and dairy program, said Anne Peterson, president of the Concern For Neighbors Board of Directors. The food bank can now add a second week for providing milk (the food bank had only be able to afford milk once a month) and purchase additional protein and produce to give to the clients.

“In the fall, we may purchase more fruit, like apples, as once the season is over we do not get as much good fruit donated to the food bank,” Peterson said, who added that “everyone at the food bank extends their heartfelt thanks to the Hazel Miller Foundation.”
