Two staff members from Mountlake Terrace Elementary School are sharing honors presented by the Rotary Club of Alderwood-Terrace for the month of May.
Teacher Karly Kline and paraeducator Sonja “Sonny” Adams have been named the May Educators of the Month. The Rotary Club presented the two with a gift certificate and a certificate of appreciate to commemorate the honor.
Kline “has been the leader of this classroom for seven years and has transformed the program,” MLT Elementary Principal Doug Johnson wrote in his nomination letter to the Rotary Club about the two educators. “She is a gifted teacher and it is a joy to watch her in action.
Kline and Adams work closely together throughout the day to help their students. Adams, Johnson noted, “is amazingly patient and kind, but she also holds students to a high expectation and helps them to achieve their true potential. When her students have their most challenging and difficult days, Sonny helps them to move forward, treating them with love and never giving up.”
Working as a team, Kline and Adams “have built a community within our school from which these students can grow and move forward, forever changing their lives,” Johnson wrote.
