With the closing of Sorelli’s (update 9/27) we lose a fantastic spot for a caesar salad and the neighborhood’s largest beer for the money. With the addition of Ringer’s, we gain a great new sports bar with spirited service and prime seats for watching your favorite team. But are there other places to visit for an evening meal or a cold beverage without leaving the city limits? Why yes, yes there are!
Believe it or not, Mountlake Terrace is actually host to several great restaurants, pubs and burger joints. There are actually so many hidden treasures, I can’t cover them all in this one article, so I must highlight just a few to start.
Other than Ringer’s, the newest addition to the MLT food family is ‘The Red Onion‘. A family business with years of experience in delivering a great and ‘gooey center’ burger, fries, pulled pork sandwiches, and an array of other enticing entrees at a good price. They’ve done a great job fixing up a bit of an eyesore in the heart of MLT, and done it while keeping our bellies full! Red Onion BBQ & More – 23209 56th Ave W – Mountlake Terrace
A true hidden treasure that will get your Thai cravings in order is Amorn Thai. A local family operated business owned by Amorn and Ning, Amorn Thai has been reported to have the BEST Thai food in the entire Seattle area. While that claim can certainly be subjective, the numerous reviews by Seattleites supporting that claim make this a must stop for your next Phad Thai urge. Amorn Thai is open for dining in or take out and is right in the heart of MLT on 56th: 22828 56th Ave W, Mountlake Terrace
If you’re feeling a little surly, need a stiff drink, some good Chinese food, and aren’t particular about the surroundings, the ‘Kings III’ restaurant is your spot. Converted from an old duplex, ‘Kings III’ may not have the flair of a fancy restaurant, because it isn’t, but don’t let the beat up old lions on the outside fool you. Inside, there’s a bevy of find authentic foods to satiate your inner beast, and a stiff drink to calm it. Kings III will even deliver your Mongolian Beef or Kung Pao Chicken directly to your door if you prefer your own surroundings. Kings III – 5114 212th St SW, Mountlake Terrace
There are many more great places in the local community, so be looking for more suggestions in future posts to MLTNews.com. For now, cheers and slinte!
