MLT Dining and Drinks… 2nd Course

As promised, it’s time for the second course of MLT dining and ‘hot’ spots! Last post, I highlighted the new kid on the block, ‘The Red Onion‘, the patriarchal old timer, ‘Kings III‘, and the middle-of-the-road (in age only, certainly a list topper for food), ‘Amorn Thai‘. When writing that though, I had completely forgotten about our REALLY new foodie spot in the MLT jurisdiction, and that’s ‘Johnny Spuds’.

Johnny Spuds opened up mid-June in the former location of the ‘Night’ Club, ‘Zen’.  Although a little kooky according to some recent reviews by patrons on Yelp!, Johnny Spuds offers up a unique experience within MLT:  Fish & Chips AND pizza, all under one roof!  Apparently though, to stave off any confusion, the two halves DO go by different names.  There’s Johnny Spuds for the fish and chips, and Sahara Pizza for the… well, I’m sure get it.  The overall theme appears to be a Fort Myers Beach, Florida-slash-Jimmy Buffet-slash-Hang Ten kind of theme, so I’m thinking your flip flops will feel right at home here.  They have a full bar, and a happy hour drink menu (and the prices are good!), so being right off of I-5, it might be a great place to swing by, order a tasty cold bevvie, order a pizza and take home to the family.  Just want to go straight home?  No worries… they deliver!  Sorry, no “Rum Runner” deliveries…  Johnny Spuds-Sahara Pizza – 5803 244th St SW Mountlake Terrace, WA 98043 – http://johnnyspuds.wordpress.com/

I’m sure many long time Mountlake Terrace residents remember the old China Passage restaurant, with it’s large pond and 1/4 of a junk boat right in the middle of the entryway.  Those same people probably also remember the numerous fires that restaurant had and asked themselves, ‘How is THAT many fires in such a short amount of time possible?’  Well, I guess the insurance companies asked the same question, and in 2005  the location became the ‘Crazy Moose Casino’.

The Crazy Moose Casino is Mountlake Terrace’s own one-stop fun shop.  With Poker, blackjack, Pai-Gow, pull-tabs, beer, wine, cocktails, dozens of TVs fed by 4 satellite dishes, served up with a vast and tasty menu, you can’t go wrong with an evening with the Moose.  The Crazy moose is open early for your weekend breakfast and stays open very late for your blackjack cravings.   If you’re into poker, look for the $25 poker tournaments every 12 hours, 7 days a week (midnight and noon). There are many more great places in the local community, so be looking for more suggestions in future posts to MLTNews.com.   For now, cheers and sláinte!
