In MLT: Deaths of two men, two days apart

Deaths from non-natural causes are a fairly rare occurrence in Mountlake Terrace, so when there is one in a month it’s unusual; when there are two, it’s noteworthy.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner has identified a 41-year-old male found deceased in a home in the 23400 block of 55th Avenue West on October 12 as Ryan Piller. No specific cause of death has been determined, but the Mountlake Terrace Police Department suspects a possible drug overdose.

On the following day, Oct. 13, a 48-year-old man, identified as Brian Watson, was found deceased in a garage in the 7100 block of 226th Place Southwest. The medical examiner’s office has not released its final determination for cause-of-death, but initial indications point to asphyxiation by car exhaust.

Though occurring approximately 24 hours of each other, the deaths of Piller and Watson were not related.
