While the Mountlake Terrace City Council normally conducts a work/study session on the Thursday prior to its regular Monday meetings, this week’s session that had been scheduled for Jan. 2, 2014, has been cancelled due to the holiday week.
The council will resume its schedule with a meeting on Monday, Jan. 6, beginning at 7 p.m. in the council chambers of interim City Hall, 6100-219th St. S.W. Agenda items will include the administering of the Oath of Office to those council members re-elected to their posts, election of Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem for 2014, and the appointments of council liaisons and representatives for city and intergovernmental agency boards and commissions.
Another schedule change for later in January has already been announced by city officials; the Thursday, Jan. 16 council work/study session has been moved to Wednesday, Jan. 15 because of a scheduling conflict.
Why isn’t our Council going back to work on January 2, the same as everyone else? Many people work on New Year’s Day, and 99% return on the 2nd. It’s just a normal weekday.
Based on the Council’s complete failure to get anything accomplished at the last meeting, I guess it really doesn’t matter.
