The Mountlake Terrace City Council honored Eagle Scout candidate Theron Samp with a Certificate of Appreciation at its regular meeting on Monday for volunteer work he completed at Terrace Creek and Firefighters Memorial Parks late last year.

Samp installed kiosk reader boards at the two Mountlake Terrace parks as part of his effort to earn Eagle Scout status in the Boy Scouts of America. The reader boards now display informational maps and listings of upcoming city activities for park visitors.

Samp’s work included meeting with city officials, coordinating the underground utility locates for the kiosks, and acquiring donations for the necessary concrete for the projects, in addition to the hands-on labor of installing the reader boards, said Mountlake Terrace Parks and Property Management Superintendent Ken Courtmauch.

Samp was joined at the recognition by his dad and scout leader Rick Samp.
