MLT City Council to consider pavement marking options at Thursday study session

At its work/study session on Thursday, August 30, the Mountlake Terrace City Council will consider pavement marking options for 228th Street Southwest, 44th Avenue West/Cedar Way, and 236th Street Southwest as part of a 2013 pavement overlay project and chip seal application. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at Interim City Hall, 6100-219th Street Southwest, Suite 200.

During the overlay and chip seal work, which is scheduled for 2013, all existing pavement markings on the effected streets will be eliminated. This provides an opportunity to consider changes that could improve the safety and capacity of the roads and make them consistent with the city’s current Transportation Master Plan and the FHWA Grant commitments. The various options include maintaining the current configuration, adding bike lanes, and converting Cedar Way to a 3-lane configuration.

The city has received two Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) grants that will partially fund overlay projects on 228th Street Southwest from 44th to 39th Avenues, and 44th Avenue West from 228th to 232nd Streets, and chip seal applications on 44th Avenue West from 232nd to 244th Streets, and 236th Street Southwest from 54th to 56th Streets.
