Eagle Scout Troy Lyrberg was recognized by the Mountlake Terrace City Council earlier this month for his work coordinating a volunteer project at Terrace Creek Park.
With the help of volunteers Lyrberg renovated the gazebo/picnic shelter at the park, replacing the old cedar shake roof with a new more durable metal roof. Lyberg also worked with city staff to design the project, obtain permits and materials. He secured funding for the entire project through the Alderwood-Terrace Rotary Club.
“On behalf of the City Council, I thank you,” said Mayor Jerry Smith. “We really appreciate what you did for our community.”
“These Scouts put in many hours and a lot of hard work on their projects that benefit the city and its residents,” stated Parks and Facilities Superintendent Ken Courtmanch, who coordinates projects with prospective Eagle Scouts.
