The Mountlake Terrace City Council has proclaimed Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014 as “Seattle Seahawks Day” in Mountlake Terrace.

The council provided direction to prepare a proclamation in honor of the Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks. Councilmember Bryan Wahl said during the meeting, “I want to congratulate the Seattle Seahawks on a dominating performance, 43-8, in winning the Super Bowl” and he asked if the city could do some sort of recognition of the Seahawks.

The City Council supported the idea and Councilmember Kyoko Matsumoto Wright added that one of the Seattle Sea Gal cheerleaders is Carli Brockman, a physical education teacher at Mountlake Terrace Elementary School. The Mayor teased that he thought a sympathy letter be sent to the Denver Broncos as well.

“Seattle Seahawks Day” is proclaimed for Wednesday, February 5, 2014 to coincide with the Seattle Seahawks victory parade in downtown Seattle,” the City of Mountlake Terrace said in a news release. The proclamation recognizes the community spirit that the team’s accomplishment established among citizens, businesses and the city alike, the release said.

“Our citizens were very excited when the city raised the 12th Man Flag over the water tower and there are signs and flags in support of the Seahawks displayed throughout the city. This event has really rallied our community and united people throughout the region,” said Community Relations Director Virginia Olsen.
