Edmonds Woodway Dental Care will open its practice to those who cannot afford regular dental care during their Fourth Day of Caring on Saturday, March 23. Free dental service will be offered from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; the clinic is located at 6100 219th St. S.W., Suite 530, in Mountlake Terrace.
“The Day of Caring has proven to be a great way to help take care of our neighbors,” said Dr. Michael Hrankowski. During the last Day of Caring, doctors provided treatment for 64 people.
Treatments will be offered on a first come, first served basis, with priority given to people in pain or with infections. “To accommodate as many people as possible, we will provide only procedures that can be accomplished in one appointment and there is a limit of one procedure per person,” Hrankowski said. He noted the types of procedures that can be done in one appointment include extractions, fillings and other symptomatic treatment. No root canal treatments or cleanings will be performed.
Due to the expected demand, the doctors cannot guarantee everyone who shows up will be seen. “Come early for best chance at being seen, but please, not before 6 a.m.,” Hrankowski said.
Dr. Hrankowski is grateful to the three other dentists who have graciously volunteered their time for the Day of Caring in order that more people might be served. The dentists are Matthew Aldridge, DDS from Oasis Dental in Vancouver, Wash.; Brian Dillon, DDS , from Brian J Dillon Family Dentistry in Redmond; and, Matthew Kelley, DDS from Kelley Family Dentistry in Mountlake Terrace. In addition, three hygienists and 10 assistants have volunteered their time for the Day of Caring. Colgate and Patterson Dental Supply Company are providing supplies and additional equipment, in addition to DP Incorporated Tenant Construction Services and the Saunderson Marketing Group, both from Seattle. Hrankowski also thanked BPB Lunch Box’s in Lynnwood for providing volunteer meals.
Hrankowski has degrees in both psychology and dentistry from the University of Washington and has maintained a private practice that focuses on comprehensive adult dental care since 1982. As a dental school faculty member, Hrankowski served in the capacity of assistant clinical professor in the department of restorative dentistry.
