Mountlake Terrace High School linebacker Mitch Haldane signed a Letter of Intent with the Central Washington University Wildcats last Wednesday.
“Mitch graduates as Mountlake Terrace’s career all time leading tackler and set the season record this year. He played a major role in the success of Terrace football the past 3 seasons, and has garnered a multitude of awards,” said MTHS football coach Tony Umayanm. “I think Mitch will fit in nicely at Central. He has a tremendous work ethic, attitude, and a nose for the football that should translate well to the college game. As long as he continues to enjoy playing football, especially the physical aspects of it, he will continue to grow as a player. We’re excited to follow Mitch’s career the next few years.”
The 5′-11″, 190 lb Terrace senior was named one of the Top 100 prospects in the state by the Seattle Times in January.
When asked about his accomplishments, Haldene credits hard work and support from the community:
“Its just nice to know that I get to play the sport that I love for a few more years. And It just goes to show that hard work does pay off. And I owe it to the ones that supported me the whole way, coaches, family, and friends. Without them I wouldn’t have this great oppurtunity in front of me.”
