Man and woman found dead in Terrace Creek Park parking lot

MLT police shieldA man and a woman were found dead of what appear to be gunshot wounds in a car in the parking lot of Terrace Creek Park in Mountlake Terrace on Wednesday evening.

Mountlake Terrace Police Commander Kevin Pickard said that an individual called police around 5 p.m. to report seeing the deceased man and woman in the car. The two individuals appear to be in their 50s and were found in the driver and passenger seats.

“There was a weapon found in the vehicle,” Pickard said. “There is no concern for the public safety right now.”

Terrace Creek Park is located at 23200 48th Ave. W. It is 60 acres and is one of Mountlake Terrace most popular parks.

Because the investigation is so new Pickard wouldn’t speculate on whether the incident was a murder-suicide or on the relationship between the man and woman.

“We’re seeking to identify the people in the car,” Pickard said. “That’s the primary concern now.”

As of around 8 p.m, the victims were still in vehicle. The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office eventually will come and take the bodies away, Pickard said.

“It’s early in the investigation. We’ll be out here for a while,” Pickard added.
