Lori Knight, an artist and the arts writer for MLTnews, is expected to be named to the city’s Arts Advisory Commission on Monday by the Mountlake Terrace City Council. Knight is being appointed to a vacated term on the commission that is scheduled to expire in June 2016.
Knight had previously served on the commission prior to 2012, and in the interim has stayed involved as a volunteer assisting with the group’s activities associated with promoting arts in the city. An artist herself, Knight’s collection of mixed media pieces is scheduled to be on display at the Mountlake Terrace Library in May.
“It’s wonderful to hear that Lori Knight is coming back,” said Mountlake Terrace Mayor Pro Tem Laura Sonmore. “She was a wonderful addition to the arts in previous years. We’re very fortunate to have her come back.”
The mission of the seven-member Arts Advisory Commission is to nurture, support and promote cultural arts in Mountlake Terrace. The commission documents and maintains the city’s public art collection and, with the assistance of the Mountlake Terrace Friends of the Arts, sponsor the Arts of the Terrace Juried Art Show
