The other day I was looking for a particular screw off an old piece of furniture that I needed to replace and, I of course, first thought to check Home Depot and Lowe’s to see if they had something similar. FAIL. I often will run to Lowes in Lynnwood or Home Depot in Shoreline and tend to forget about our very own True Value hardware in Mountlake Terrace.
Neither Home Depot nor Lowers had anything even close to what I was looking for. True Value didn’t have the exact item I was looking for but had a couple other similar ones that I think will work. Next time you are thinking about heading to Lowes or Home Depot to get a new shovel or a box of screws, stop by your local True Value and check there first. Every time I have been in to the Mountlake Terrace True Value, the employees have been very helpful and knowledgeable. Dennis helped me out this time and pointed me where I needed to look.
There’s something enjoyable about writing the quantities and prices of the screws you are buying on a paper bag, bringing them to the counter and having the True Value employee trust that 2X$0.75 and 1x$0.95 really represents what is in the bag without having to open it. Also, by shopping at True Value you are keeping your sales tax dollars in Mountlake Terrace, so you will more directly benefit from how they are used.
True Value is located next to QFC and Bartell Drugs in the Cedar Plaza.
I always go to True Value first for my hardware needs. They are as friendly as friendly gets, they're closer to me than those other guys, and it's not an absolute zoo to get in and out of…. I dread going to Home Depot & Lowes because I know it's going to be one hassle after another from finding a parking space, to finding what I'm looking for and then the line to check out. True Value may not be as big, and because of that, might not have the obscure thing your looking for but save yourself some time and frustration, definitely check here first!
