Four recent graduates of Edmonds School District high schools will get a taste of collegiate baseball tournament play this weekend when they join their community college teammates for the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) Baseball Championship in Longview.

Mountlake Terrace High School graduates Dominic DeMiero (2014) and Jaden Yackley (2015); Lucas Jungmann, a 2015 graduate of Lynnwood High School; and Tate Budnick, a 2014 graduate of Edmonds-Woodway High School, are all members of teams qualified for the region’s community college championship tourney that begins on Thursday, May 26.

DeMiero went 7-1 with a 2.29 ERA this year for the Bellevue College Bulldogs, who are scheduled to play their NWAC tournament opener Thursday against Lower Columbia at 7:35 p.m.

Yackley, Jungmann and Budnick are all members of the Everett Trojans that tied with Bellevue and Skagit Valley Community College for the NWAC North Division crown. Everett will take on Treasure Valley in the tourney’s first game of the day on Thursday. First pitch is set for 9:35 a.m.

Yackley, a second baseman, played in 19 games for the Trojans this season. Budnick found action both on the mound in seven games and behind the plate as a catcher in 33 games. Jungmann, a pitcher, compiled a 5-0 record, earned three saves and had an ERA of 2.13.

The 2016 NWAC Baseball Championship will be played at David Story Field on the campus of Lower Columbia College in Longview. Games are scheduled through the weekend with the championship game scheduled for Monday, May 30, at 12:05 p.m.; a 3 p.m. Monday championship rematch game is scheduled if necessary.
