Hawks Tina Liu and Allison Lorraine were able to pick up singles victories on Monday, but the Terrace girls tennis team couldn’t find any more wins in their match-up with Glacier Peak. The Grizzlies beat the Hawks 5-2 in the first league match of the season for both squads.
Liu had an easy time in the No. 2 singles match-up, defeating the Grizzlies’ Mia Selin 6-0, 6-0. Lorraine fought off Alkisti Psillos 7-2 in the tie-breaker of their first set, then cruised to the win 6-2 in the second set.
No. 1 singles player Nicki Bouche suffered her first defeat of the season, losing to Nadean Al-ali 6-2, 1-6, 6-2.
Terrace sees its overall record drop to 1-3, 0-1 in league play, while Glacier Peak picked up its first victory of the season after starting 0-2.
The Hawks return to the courts, and to league play, on Wednesday when the Shorewood T-Birds come to Mountlake Terrace High School for a 3:30 p.m. start.
